FAQs

Why is Engagement and why is it important?

Engagement is a state of mind, it is a measure of how motivated people are, how connected to the organisation they are, how enabled they are to do their best work and energised they are by colleagues and by their work.

Engaged people want to stay with the organisation, develop, contribute and have a positive impact. This is why it is important to the business to know how you feel. Employee surveys help you to measure Engagement levels across your organisation and gather detailed insights to help you shape your desired Employee Experience.

Listening to employees is It is more than just a survey though; it’s a business decision tool that connects Leaders/managers with their teams and provides insights into what helps keep you motivated and engaged at work.

  • An external service provider, WTW, will conduct the survey and support in the results analysis through partnership with IBL Group.
  • The survey is an in-depth employee survey and aims at evaluating our progress in improving your employee experience and our organisational culture.
  • The survey results will help us identify the key drivers of Engagement and strengths/opportunity areas which will help us define more accurately what our main Focus Areas should be in terms of People Strategy.

The Engagement Survey gives you a voice to help make IBL Group a better place to work and help us all be more successful in the future, by rating strengths and weaknesses of key dimensions of daily work, workplace, and levels of collaboration with colleagues or Leadership.

The Engagement Survey gives Leaders/managers the information they need to make the right decisions to improve their team’s engagement, their business performance and contribution to company success. It is also a valuable instrument for people-centred change management towards becoming better in everything we do.

Who is eligible to participate?
Typically, all permanent Company employees are eligible to participate provided that they have joined prior to the launch of the survey, including contractors who have a direct report into the Company.
Yes. Your participation is voluntary and your responses are completely confidential. This survey is conducted by our external partner, WTW.
No. Your participation is voluntary, but we strongly encourage and request that all employees participate in order to achieve a representative and thus significant view of what it is like to work at your Company – both the positives and negatives. Also remember, participating in the survey allows you to express your opinions and help make a difference in your workplace.
What do I have to fill in?
The questionnaire is made up of XX questions. In addition, there are X open-ended questions in the survey to allow you to provide more context to your response and contribute your ideas.

Simply click the link in your invitation email which you will receive on launch date. You will be taken to an internet website which displays the survey.

You do not have to complete the survey all at once. If you have to interrupt your session, please click on “>>” to save your answers and save the link. You can restart where you left off by typing in the unique link you were provided.

The survey will be available in English or French.
The questionnaire takes approximately 10-12 minutes to fill out. It is straightforward, clearly structured and transparent. You will have the opportunity to respond via tablets or smartphone during scheduled classroom sessions or you will receive a link via an email from WTW to complete the questionnaire online.
You may try to find a quiet time during the normal working day to complete it and your manager should encourage you to do this. However, you may decide to do the survey at any time. Please don’t forget to provide your personal views rather than being influenced by others. It is your views we are seeking and there are no right or wrong answers.
In order for your Company to have meaningful and overall results to be representative, it is important that as many questions as possible are answered. If you cannot decide about a statement or if you feel the statement doesn’t apply to you, please use the option of “?”, so that your response can be recorded and counted.
How do I know if my responses are confidential?

We attach great importance to confidentiality. Comprehensive procedures are in place which will make it impossible for your Company to trace opinions back to individual employees. Specifically:

  • All data is processed exclusively using WTW software platform.
  • WTW will only provide summarized statistics from groups of employees. The detailed reports will be for groups of 5 people and above. Demographic data will only be used at an aggregate level to understand macro trends.
  • No one from IBL Group will have access to or attempt to identify any individual respondents.
One of the reasons for using the services of our external partner is to guarantee the confidentiality of the data collection, analysis and results reporting. WTW will set up the survey online. You will receive a link by email from WTW to participate in the online survey. When WTW reports the results, they will be collated in groups, so that individuals cannot be identified.

Open-ended comments are a great source for the organisation to get insights beyond the collected numbers and understand employee rationale to the given responses. We are asking our employees, “ “What else could this do that would most improve your work experience?”.

The open-ended comment box gives the opportunity for you to share examples of best-in-class examples you have seen and other comments/suggestions which are important to you.

Your comments will be collected, sorted into groups, and reported exactly as written. We strongly caution you not to sign your name or include in your comments any information that might directly identify you or any other individuals
How can Leaders/Managers help?
Leaders/managers and employees all play a pivotal role throughout the survey – from preparing for and participating in the survey to delivering the results and action plans. Here is how you can help:

  • Preparing for the survey: Leaders/managers recognize the value of the survey and encourage their teams to participate. HR are the champions of the Engagement Survey. They support Leaders/managers and managers by arming them with the knowledge they need to perform their role.

  • During the survey: Every one of you, at all levels, including line managers and Leaders/managers, from every part of the business, contribute by taking the time to complete the survey; all answers are strictly confidential. Leaders/managers and line managers encourage employees to participate in the survey, using the different channels available to them and their face-to-face interactions with employees.

  • After the survey: Leaders/managers take ownership of the results by reviewing their team’s report, sharing findings with their team and developing a plan of action to address employee feedback. The results will help them to define their strategy, drive business results and better understand their team.
